CAMPAIGNS
A Government funded vaccination programme for children
A vaccination programme for children is ongoing and a family planning worker continues to visit the village on a regular basis providing contraceptives and free advice. Apart from this work the Chitepani Trust has instigated a number of specific campaigns. . .
General Health Campaign 2008
In February 2008 a general health campaign was held at the Chitepani Primary Health Centre. Doctors came from Pokhara and 105 people came for stool and urine samples to be checked, blood tests and blood pressure checks were taken. Free treatment was given where necessary.
Images of the Health Campaigns appear in the Gallery from time to time.
Eye Campaign 2005
Until 2005 no form of eye care had been available to the hill people in and around Chitepani. The project brought a number of specialist doctors to the village to assess and diagnose the 300 people who attended. Those found with treatable conditions such as cataracts were given treatment in Pokhara free of charge. We hope that eye care can be part of a rolling programme.
Women's Health Campaign 2003
Traditionally, women's health has been at the bottom of the pile so far as health provision is concerned. In 2003 The Chitepani Trust made an excellent start in remedying that situation in the village and surrounding area. For several days, women from all over the region came to Chitepani, examinations took place, health concerns were addressed and contraceptive advice given. Health care during and after pregnancy was discussed.
This was seen as just the first step in an education programme designed to improve the general health of women and children in the village.
